The Planet Crafter: 11 tips for the ideal entry

In our tips guide to The Planet Crafter we'll tell you:

Which basic things to be observed in the first hours of play How you drive the Terraforming Index up quickly On which way you get to the jetpack *

The Planet Crafter from the French indie developer Miju Games appeared on March 24, 2022 on Steam in early access and has since conquered the hearts of crafting and survival fans in the storm. You can read what beginners should consider below. If you want to try a limited version of the game directly, it is best to download the completely free The Planet Crafter: Prologue on Steam.

always take further oxygen, water and food

In The Planet Crafter, the life of your character hangs on the silk thread. Because as soon as the oxygen, water or food indicator reaches your zero point on the bottom left of the picture , you are dead and lose part of your inventory as a punishment.

So get used to leaving your current basis only when your oxygen supply has completely filled up (happens automatically) and you still have at least two oxygen capsules in your luggage. Furthermore, you should always carry two bottles of water and at least one meal ration.

Crafts a storage box for your base promptly, which you regularly fill two thirds with cobalt ** and a third with ice cream. So you always have the necessary resources ready to crafting other oxygen capsules (2x cobalt) and water bottles (1x ice cream) at a manufacturing station. Important: An oxygen capsule and a water bottle always fill the respective display completely. So it only consumes when the display is almost exhausted.

The procurement of food is a bit more complicated. In the beginning you will find space food in the Planet Crafter Space food, especially in boxes in the area and in spaceship wrecks. As soon as the blueprint for a food breeder is available, you can set it up in the base, place seeds in it and beans, mushrooms and other edible things.

In addition to the bred plant, you also get a seed when harvesting so that you can grow the plant again . Note: Unlike O2 capsules and water bottles, eating from a food does not fill the life energy bar completely.

stores regularly and only in one basis

Especially in the first few hours, the Planet Crafter always has the risk of blessing the time due to lack of oxygen. If this happens, you lose part of your inventory. Another problem: the game does not create automatic storage points . So if you have played in a row for a while and recently saved hours ago, you can only get lost inventory objects with a lot of time.

For this reason, you should get used to storing regularly manually in the Planet Crafter. Preferably always if you have done everything in the next best base and filled up the water and oxygen supplies. Important: always saves within the base. So you can find yourself much better at the score ** and start in a safe place.

tips for building outposts

The biggest challenge in The Planet Crafter's initial phase: Always have enough oxygen ready to further promote exploration of the environment and the reduction of raw materials. The easiest way to regularly refuel oxygen is to build small outposts everywhere in the area. **

The rule of thumb: stamps mini-bases from the ground at strategically sensible points, for example in front of the entrance of a cave system, in the proximity of a spaceship wreck or at an increased point, from which the situation has a good eye on. Also make sure that the paths between the starting capsule and a outpost or between two outposts with a filling of your oxygen tanks can be overcome without stress.

To build a rudimentary outpost, you need a living compartment (2x iron, 1x titanium) and a living compartment door (1x iron, 1x titanium, 1x silicon). If the outpost has to be built on an uneven reason, you also need one or more fundamental grid. With one unit each, however, these are very inexpensive.

Statters regularly used outposts with a manufacturing station T2 (1x iron, 1x silicon), a food breeder (1x aluminum, 1x iron, 1 water bottle), a storage box (1x iron) and an atmospheric water collector.

There is also a table (2x iron) with card screen (1x microchip compass, 1x iron, 1x silicon), a cabinet (3x iron) for more storage space and a light signal (1x titanium, 1x silicon, 1x aluminum) to find the outpost quickly at any time.

Profitipp Finally: Important outpost do not build in valleys or lower because these areas of rainwater can be flooded.

light signals and compass help with orientation

The Planet Crafter's game world is peppered with cave systems and spaceship wrecks, in which you often lose your orientation, especially in the initial phase. If you have too little oxygen capsules in your luggage, this can quickly lead to death. To avoid getting lost, you should set up a light signal at the input point of such labyrinth -like structures.

The hexagonal luminous symbol can also be seen on a large distance and through obstacles. In addition, you can change the light color at any time , which makes it easier to distinguish different light symbols from each other.

Another important tool is the compass. If you have unlocked the necessary blueprint after a few hours, you only need the specified resources to make the compass. Once installed in your suit, now appears on the upper edge of the picture A dynamic compass that shows the direction.

explores spaceship wrecks thoroughly

In the world of The Planet Crafter, you will soon discover huge spaceship wrecks. Inside you will usually find quite a few debris, but also a lot of with valuable raw materials and blueprints for new crafting objects. Under no circumstances do you miss these treasures!

Since the size of your inventory in the Planet Crafter is usually not sufficient to recover all boxes at once, you should build a outpost with warehouse boxes in front of larger wrecks. Also add the first expansion stage (T1) of the oxygen tank (2x cobalt, 1x iron, 1x magnesium), flashlight and deconstruction microchip.

The flashlight is absolutely necessary because it is mostly pitcher in the ships . You need the deconstruction microchip to clear obstacles. If you deconstruct clear boxes, you will receive an unit iron in return. If you find one of the eleven very well hidden gold boxes, you can even look forward to an aluminum unit and a super alloy.

Form every spaceship wreck if possible in one go, so that you don't overlook anything and keep your eyes open according to fusion reactors. They can be started in the end game with an energy cell, which in turn opens up previously blocked areas within the wreck.

sets Terraforming processes early

In The Planet Crafter, everything revolves around to make a planet habitable . You should initiate the necessary terraforming processes at an early stage by doing the following things:

  1. Increase the oxygen content: The vegetubes (1x iron, 1x iron, 1x magnesium) are decisive for this. If you place certain seeds in it, plants grow from it that release oxygen into the atmosphere. Depending on the type of seed, you also get certain bonuses. Pesteras seeds, for example, have an oxygen multiplier of 200 percent, nul nicken one of 300 percent and so on.
  2. Increase the air pressure by releasing your floor gas: Important tools for this are drills that you place on the floor outdoors. The entry -level model is the drill T1 (1x iron, 1x titanium). It releases 0.2 air pressure units per second. With the drill T2 (1x iron, 2x titanium) there are already 1.5 units per second. With a drill T3 (2x iron, 2x titanium, 2x aluminum) you even get 17 units per second.
  3. Increase the heat : This requires heating that you place within a base. A heating T1 (1x iridium, 1x iron, 1x silicon) generates 0.3 heat units per second, a heater T2 (2x iridium, 1x silicon, 1x iron, 1x aluminum) 4.5 units and with one heating T3 (1x silicon, 1x titanium, 1x aluminum, 1x iridium rod) there are already an impressive 28.5 units per second.
  4. Later there is also biomass . For spoiler reasons, we do not go into this in this guide.

As soon as you have started to produce one or more of the first three resources, the Terraforming Index slowly climbs in the picture at the top right. Make sure that this value climbs further. Once you have crossed certain brands, you will unlock new manufacturing objects for the game progress. This also initiates changes in the area.

Install the “screen - terraforming” (1x iron, 1x cobalt, 1x silicon) on a wall on your base. So you can see in real time how oxygen content, warmth and air pressure develop.

In which terraforming level you are in and what percentage of the next terraforming level you have already mastered, you can see when you attach the “screen progress” on a wall on your base. For better orientation: the first stage is reached at a terraforming index of 175,000, i.e. 176.00 KTI.

always maintains the power supply

Machines, but also many other equipment in the Planet Crafter, need electricity. If this is not sufficiently available, you can stop working and your terraforming index does not increase further. To ensure a constant power supply , you should build some wind turbines (1x iron each) in the initial phase. With 1.2 electricity units per second, however, their output is limited.

The solar collectors are much more effective. The start model (1x iron, 2x cobalt, 1x silicon) delivers 6.5 units per second, the solar collector T2 (1x iron, 1x magnesium, 1x silicon, 2x cobalt, 1x aluminum) already 19.5 units.

The nuclear reactor delivers even more power, namely a remarkable 86.5 units per second. To build it, however, you need three rare sewing super alloys **, two water bottles and an uranium rod, which in turn crafts into the advanced manufacturing station from nine uranium units.

If you are missing the necessary resources to build further electricity generators, you can deconstruct electricity -eating equipment ** - the materials are completely reimbursed. Also build the “screen - energy level” in your base at an early stage. Then you can see at a glance which devices produce how much energy, which devices consume how much energy and how much energy is still available to you.

avoids meteor showers, but collect their remains

At irregular intervals occur in the Open World of The Planet Crafter Meteor storms. If there is such an event, it is best to go to the closest base and wait until the haunt is over. Don't worry: Meteorites smell quite spectacular, but cannot harm your basis.

On the other hand, you will be hit directly from a meteor, it says Exitus. Tip: It is best to equip your base with some windows and remember where meteors have decreased in your area. These places are then worthwhile, because the chunks often leave rare raw materials ** from space.

builds a communication antenna and screen

Even if it does not appear at first: The Planet Crafter has some story elements that the developers want to further expand even further during the early access phase. To read the first story fragments, you need the communication antenna (1x silicon, 1x titanium, 1x iron, 1x aluminum) and the associated transmission screen (1x iron, 2x silicon, 1x magnesium).

Places the antenna on the roof of a residential unit and the transmission screen on a desk in the living level below. Caution: If antenna and screen are too far apart, the reception of messages does not work.

Enter new messages, notify yourself the game about it. Read incoming messages promptly, especially since they contain tips from time to time that are useful in the later course of the game.

works specifically on the jetpack

In the first few hours, your figure in the Planet Crafter can only run, run and jump. If she plunges from a very high position, she pays this with life. However, if you have a jetpack , you no longer have to worry about fall damage. Simply light the nozzles from the impact and you put a soft landing.

But that's not all. With the jetpack you can tap the jump in the air by tapping again, followed by tapping again and pressing the jump button and crossing terrain with a much higher movement speed .

In order to unlock the jet pack, you need a advanced manufacturing station in addition to a titanium unit, which in turn enables you to produce two rocket engines. Keep an eye out for the latter for two units, a super alloy and an Iridium rod.

You can find the Iridium rod either in spaceship wrecks or you can manufacture it yourself by combining nine units of Iridium in the advanced manufacturing station. No iridium at hand? You can find it in large quantities in the cave, in which Sand ** entrance area continuously trickles down.

studies the construction plan menu and decrypted microchips

Put on a desk early on in your base and then place the “screen - construction plans” (1x iron, 1x silicon). If you access the screen, you can see a overview of all crafting objects that you can unlock in the course of the game.

Move your mouse on a still closed object and you not only see its name and its function, but also from which terraforming index value it is activated. With this knowledge in mind you can work much more specifically for the desired crafting objects.

Once you have found microchips with construction plans in boxes or spaceship wrecks, you decrypt them on the blueprint screen. Simply place the microchip in your inventory , access the screen and click on deciphering on the bottom right of the interface.
