It seems that Sony still has another bug to correct. The fans returning to the PS1 Classic reissue of Chrono Cross on PS3 and PS Vita this week - presumably propelled by the recent PS4 reissue - have discovered that network PlayStation bug makes the legendary RPG unplayable. And it's not an isolated incident: although we have tried to replicate the problem on our own successless consoles, there are reports on forums and social networks that others are affected.

Our first suspicion was that Square Enix might have ripped out the title in favor of her new Cross Chrono: The Radical Dreamers Edition, similar to what Rockstar had done with the old version of Grand Theft Auto before the launch of the GTA trilogy. But it turns out that it is much more likely a problem with the Sony database: the constant theme in all unrepinable games is that their expiration dates were reset on January 31, 1969.

Kotaku has found evidence of dozens of fans sharing the same problem, which all seem to be linked to a complicated programming function called the Unix era. In terms of such simple as possible, it is a tool that programmers use to analyze the number of seconds from the date of January 1, 1970. In a way, there seems to be a problem. In which the expiry dates of the content are by default at the aforementioned Unix era, effectively making them unplayable.

But why do the games have expiration dates? Well, it's something that Sony has integrated to help determine if ** PS more * games could be played. Essentially, the way this is supposed to work is that the expiry date is supposed to align with the end of your subscription, but it is clear that something has passed here. It will be interesting to see if the platform holder actually resolves this problem, especially since he tried to closely close PS3 and PS Vita showcases last year.
