Battle for the Gaming Crown: New AMD

Industry, there were again some big announcements during the CES. While Samsung presented its new DOLED televisions, and Nvidia finally revealed the RTX 3090 Ti, AMD devoted himself to large parts of new processors, which could also sweat Intel properly.

While Intel could not see huge performance jumps in recent pair of chip genres, the industry prime has again managed the new Alder-Lake processors to ensure properly swirls in the CPU sector.

Especially with gaming performance, the Intel chips could again drain a drug and thus depend on AMD's Ryzen-5000 processors. But anyone who has a look at AMD's new CES presentation has thrown that this success may only be short duration.

During the LiveStream, AMD managing director announced Dr. med. LISA SU with the Ry zen 7 5800x3d a new edition of the already known Ry zen 7 5800x, but for the first time sets to 3D V-cache and thus stimulates a thick performance plus, which should be noticeable above all in the gaming area. According to AMD, the performance growth is almost 15 percent in games with Full HD resolution.

According to the benchmarks of AMD, Intel's i9-12900K can no longer compete. In games like CS: Go or Gears 5, both chips are the same, or Intel can still post a lead of just under 2 percent. In Far Cry 6, Watch Dogs Legion, Shadow of the Tomb Raider and Final Fantasy IV, on the other hand, AMD has the nose in front — depending on the game between one and 17 percent. On average, the lead should be about 5 percent.

The new Ry zen 7 5800x3D is to go to the start in the spring of 2022 and relies on the already known AM4 platform. An official selling price has not yet been mentioned.

But the biggest innovation announced AMD until the end of the presentation: the Ryzen-7000 processors. The chips are set to the new ZEN-4 technology, are manufactured in TSMC in the 5-nm procedure and set like Alder Lake on DDR5 memory and also support PCIe Gen 5. Besides, AMD seems to be the new chip generation also achieve a real milestone. According to Dr. Lisa SU manages the new chip already now, to keep a clock of 5 GHz on all cores. We are curious how much performance the engineers can tickle from the silicon before the market start.

For the diehard AMD fan, however, the whole thing has a small wedding drop. With Ry zen 7000 AMD is finally passed from the AM4 platform and switches to the new AM5 socket. This means that new motherboards and a RAM upgrade are due for all PC players.

The new Ryzen-7000 chips are expected in the second half of 2022.
