Is the Super Saiyajin 5 Canon in Dragon Ball? Supossely Yes

Ultra Instinct is the most recent transformation to have reached anime of dragon ball officially, and at this point, we are all perfectly familiar with their abilities. However, it seems that this transformation could actually be considered as the authentic form of super saiyajin phase 5 , something that had never been part of the canon of the franchise.

The transformation of super saiyajin 5 was born in Dragon Ball AF , a story created by a fan set many years later in the future of the series. Once it debuted super we were able to know what were the official plans of akira toriyama for this saga, and although they did not include a super saiyajin phase 5 , they included ultra instinct, which shares several similarities with the previously mentioned transformation.

To begin with, both transformations change the hair of goku to white, plus they offer a level of power well above the usual, but in the process they also take some control to the user. Basically, the super saiyajin phase 5 and ultra instinct serve for the same, and the only real difference lies in its design, but even there is a similarity. It seems that Toriyama was inspired by this fictitious transformation for ultra instinct , and we are barely realizing it.

Editor's note: In one of those, we may even see this transformation into the promotional anime Super Dragon Ball Heroes, which does not belong to the Canon of the main series. In this anime anything can happen, so it would be a good opportunity to officialize the Super Saiyajin phase 5, even if it does not have the same design as AF.
