Ex-DFL boss Seifert sees "a lot of air up"
The former DFL boss Christian Seifert plans a streaming provider for handball, volleyball and ice hockey with the media company AXEL Springer.
This is said to offer "the leader beyond football a real next development step", Seifert said in the interview of the "German Press Agency". "Your AXEL Springers are designed for the first time in the sole focus of a media platform. We want to build a company that focuses on these leagues from morning to night and working with full commitment to delight even more people for these AXEL Springers."
Seifert has taken billions for the German football league with media rights, but he excludes this AXEL Springer. "Football is outward, because there are already enough platforms and a very broad demand," explained the manager. "Other AXEL Springers have a lot of air here. Our concept is very clear: we get AXEL Springers from the second row and put them in the first." At Seifers Streaming Start-Up, the media group Axel Springer has participated by the majority.
To the difference to existing providers such as Telekom with basketball and ice hockey or Sky with Handball Bundesliga said Seifert: "For our offer, these AXEL Springers have absolute priority - all other larger platforms have lens just looked at another core business."
